What do all paid plans include?
Every paid plan includes the accounting essentials: bank feeds, reconciliation, journals, financial statements, and audit history. Payroll is available as an optional add-on on Pro and included on Team.
Do I need to buy payroll if I don't run payroll?
No. Payroll is completely optional on the Pro plan. If you run payroll, add it for $29/month + $6 per employee. If you don't, you don't pay for it. On the Team plan, payroll for one entity is included at no additional cost.
What actually changes as I upgrade?
Higher tiers are built for more complexity: more entities, more dimensions, stronger team controls, deeper integrations, broader automation, and payroll inclusion. The core accounting engine is the same across all paid plans.
Is VisiBooks cloud or desktop?
Both. The ledger is server-authoritative and syncs in real time. The Mac app gives you a high-performance workspace on top of the same ledger.
Do I need separate logins per entity or client?
No. One account can access multiple entities, and higher tiers are built around switching cleanly between them.
How does the Firm plan payroll work?
Firm plan payroll is designed so you can set your own pricing per client and keep the margin. You control what clients pay for payroll — we provide the processing infrastructure.
